Mainfold printer with 3D Systems Tough Clear transparent material.

New, transparent material for 3D Systems Figure 4

PLM Group is pleased to announce the new material Tough Clear. It is the first clear resin for the Figure 4 platform. This resin is production-grade and is ideally suited for end-use parts or functional prototypes.

Toufh Clear has been engineered to offer long-term UV and humidity stability as well as clarity that avoids fading or discoloration. Users can be confident their parts will last over time, as with all production-grade materials for the Figure 4 3D printer.

Features of 3D Systems Tough Clear

Figure 4 Tough Clear resin possesses a desirable combination of customer critical performance traits. These include impact strength, tensile strength, and elongation. Features and advantages of Tough Clear include:

  • Excellent clarity that can be further improved with post-processing (e.g. clear coating)
  • Long-term environmental stability of mechanical properties and performance
  • Enables visibility into the inner workings of complex assemblies
  • Provides the ability to watch/track fluid and gas flow
  • Ability to go from prototype to production parts in clear or transparent aesthetics
  • Prototypes have longer lives and can be reused; minimizes re-prints due to resisting discoloration and yellowing
  • Supports functional testing in outdoor settings

Industries and applications for Tough Clear

  • High-volume, small plastic end-use production parts
  • Load-bearing handles, levers, knobs, and cranks
  • Lighting covers, cases, and reflectors
  • Lenses and light guides
  • Fast moving consumer goods / consumer packaging (e.g. cosmetics)

Availability of Figure 4 Tough Clear

Figure 4 Tough Clear will be available after September 12, 2022. Get in touch with us to receive updates on Tough Clear
